Papa Pencho - Bandra
When the smell of spices stay on my fingers even after I wash my hands, I feel I have had the best food ever. Indian cuisine is the most wholesome cuisine that tries to cover every domain of supplements be it carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins. Thus, Indian food may look too heavy on the stomach but it does the magic of supplementing your diet with the necessities.
Whenever hunger calls, nothing can satiate my hunger as Indian food can. Papa pencho serves delicious punjabi food. Punjabi food (one sub type of Indian cuisines) consists of a lot of spices. The famous British national dish, Chicken Tikka Masala is a kind of punjabi food. Punjabi Cuisine in India is the only one that offers innumerable number of vegetarian dishes as well as non vegetarian.
Papa Pencho has a very old 1960's look with punjabi souvenirs all around the walls, stairs, tables etc. It has its own Lassi stall with a lot of appetizers dressed in front of your eyes. Lassi is a thick concentrated yogurt drink with strawberry or fresh mango flavor and sweetened with sugar. The food and drinks are served in traditional brass plates which are so heavy to lift. The crockery probably brings out the flavor of the food.
We ordered some rajma masala, paneer butter masala kind dishes with tawa parathas and papad. The taste was delicious and it was very moderately priced. The food is not extremely hot and thats what makes you have more of it. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes to experiment with punjabi food.

ReplyDeleteGood food as can be seen from the picture. My only concern is the quantity of cream in the curries. Some restaurants tend to be generous with it and ultimately the cream overpowers the taste of the spices.
